With business class completely booked up, we opted to give Eurowings economy a shot for our short intra-European hop from London to Stuttgart, and to be honest it was better than expected. We booked the tickets at 6,000 united miles plus $38 taxes a person, which felt like a deal given how prices have been rising for last minute fares, especially for short hops within Europe. At the time of our flight, the basic cash fare (no carry-on) was selling for $199, or $249 for the fare with cabin baggage.
For a low-cost carrier, this booking provided a surprisingly good value, especially for a flight under two hours in duration! Each individual step to book the Eurowings flights was easy and ultimately the base fare offer didn’t include a lot of extras, the flight itself was efficient, on-time, and plenty comfortable for a short distance.
Check-In & Boarding

After a quick terminal transfer at Heathrow from terminal 3 to terminal 2, we checked in at the transfer desk (our online check-in did not work), which may have worked out in our favor. We got seated together in the very last row, with a middle seat in both instances, unoccupied. In economy, residual space on a full flight is an asset.
This flight, had a 3-3 configuration in 26 rows, some of the first rows that are defined as business class (middle-seat blocked, curtain-adjustable depending on load).
Inflight Wi-Fi & Entertainment

Eurowings has a tiered Wi-Fi purchase option:
Chat: €2.90 (or 1,000 Miles and More miles) for messaging apps
Connect 30: €3.90 (or 1,300 miles) for 30 minutes of internet
Connect Premium: €7.90 (or 2,600 miles) full-flight internet+entertainment
It was such a short flight, we didn’t connect – our already-closed to-do list encompassed whatever we needed to (but, nice to see options for those who have to stay connected).
Food & Drink

No complimentary service unless you either are in business class or occupy the highest fare class tier. That being said, the buy on board service was prompt and smooth, which is perfect for a passenger who simply wants a light snack or drink during that short journey.
Lavatory Letdown

One of the drawbacks I do want to note: the rear lavatory was definitely no prize. While the cabin felt clean overall, the mirror appeared to have been torched with the outline of the electric heater on it, the trash can was taped shut. Not that this caused any significant harm on a short flight, but it is definitely alarming compared with the rest of a nice cabin.
Luckily there are two lavatories at the rear and one up front, so at least their are options if one or two are deplorable.
Final Verdict

Eurowings Economy Class is not perfect, but it absolutely was better than I anticipated, for a short-haul, low-cost airline. The price (particularly through mileage redemption), the empty middle seat, and the efficiency of onboard service made it provide excellent value.
So as long as you are not stuck on a long-distance flight within Europe if you are booking spontaneously, it certainly is a viable, airlines, low-cost travel option, especially if business class are sold out.
